MARIA BARDI
"The sculptures
of a young lady who models figurative forms of ample shape, who likes
to divide them into fragments, in order to give importance, force and
action to the idea of moving vitality: poetic reality well arranged
and convincing."

Yole´s
work onde can find the simbolist tendencies were already evident for
many years and various forms, many times connected to an intensive
cosmic feeling and to intricate linear
dynamic structures.
The symbolism
comes to light spontaneously her work due to her free archetypical
life experience, which gives her unique authenticity.

THEON SPANUDIS
"Since the beginning
there's has been noticed a tendency towards a dramatic nature.
Dynamism enhances
every one of Yole's sculpture.
A great number
of dancing, theatrical and declamatory gestures unfolds themselves
before our eyes."

SANTORO JÚNIOR
"The weight
of bronze becomes light in the works of Yole Travassos, thanks to
the power of her ability the artist has in her mental and tactile
concentration, gaining life to enter in a timeless balance of delicacy
and plastic stability."

JOS M. LUYTEN
"...Yole Travassos
is known in the artistic circles as a master of refined technique.
But all this would not mean anything if she did not have, at the same
time, a profound human message to transmit. All her sculputures, in
spite of the metallic stiffness, are full of envelopments wich make
people self-reflect and abaout things wich that surround us"

Yole Travassos
is a sculptress, an artist who extracts the visceral from the plain
forms ... There is a pulsing in her sculptures. They breath ..

MAGAZINE INTERVIEW
Nr. 10:
"Flights of
freedom" - The works of the sculptress Yole Travassos bear an
eminently aerial feature as the flight of a bird escaped from prison
and drunk by the freedom of the skies. Inserting the human gesture
as a manner of reaching out the unknown and, at the same time, splintering
up the strait jacket of objective reality, Yole creates a rich piece
of art which primarily invokes freedom. Using bronze and acrylic,
her sculptures are poetical dreams of icons resting in the shadow
of Greek monuments that watch the Minotaur swallowing a part of the
full moon on a velvet blue Fall night.

The figurative expression
remains fundamental in the Yole Travassos work, allthough she is heading
up today to a more abstract-figurative trend. Sprouting from the base
, different plane directions are harmonized creating a perfect sense
of proportion (...)
(...) her warmth and human
perspective meet their best expression in her work . It can be understood
as a result of an extension of Rodin and Archipenko´s expressionist
form complemented by shades and details, producing a semi-pictorial
effect often times dramatic.
